I do mine by scratching my design through a coat of nail varnish. Doesn't get much easier.

I use the same method but I quite enjoy etching my mark through nail varnish. I etched this one today. I'm thinking about the Brother stencil printer though.

Because my makers mark is simple it was easy to make a cheap and cheerful leather stamp. Just…

That looks good. You learn something new with every knife you make. That's part of the attraction for me. Your knife will be a fine user but aesthetically it could be a little better. It wouldn't take much either. The scales at the ricasso end are a…

I got a £20 grinder/belt linisher from Aldi, removed the linisher from the weak motor and stuck it on a grinder just like yours. Three bolts was all that held it. Just had to drill three new holes in the linisher housing and on it went. Runs better…

I believe everything that any fisherman ever said. Salt of the earth types. Even Jesus hung about with them!

Believe it or not i caught a pike on my first ever cast with a pike fly. A home made pike fly. Luckily I've never caught the other thing in the fly....Thankfully!

Thanks guys! I enjoyed making this one. I had some fun with a home made rod bender. There are more than a few dodgy stainless rings in my scrap bin but i eventually got the hang of it.

The idea here was for a light but strong knife for my fishing adventures. I wanted it on a sling for over the shoulder so that the knife would hang at my back out of the way and the weight won't be pulling my trousers down. I'll be hanging unhooking…

Very well done! Hardness testing files are a good, inexpensive way to test the steel. They are about twenty quid a set and climb in increments of five Rockwell.

Thanks Guys! The main components are mild steel. Never thought about blueing them to be honest. Might look good. The smaller bits are mostly stainless. The rear bearings are for setting the end of travel at the plunge, but are only used when i'm…

Really wish I could but I spent that much time tinkering with this one that I'm behind on every other job imaginable.
