I'm not really into the dagger thing, have little use for one.
    But that really is special.
Like the rest as well but the dagger stands out.

Photos that do not fit anywhere else [e.g. our cat hugging a freshly rough ground meat cleaver, etc.]

Here are several blades from our recent batch. Mainly UDDEHOLM RIGOR (AISI A2), currently being heat treated. Some meat cleavers, smaller and bigger…

This discussion goes round in circles, ultimately it's up to each maker to decide their own terms and any potential customers to accept them or go elsewhere. There are no right or wrong answers and nobody should feel pressured into working in a way…

Sage advice and accurate observation Paul.
The variable speed grinder will have to come after I've built a new {larger} shed.
    Hopefully this year.

Well, when I grind blades on the grinder they are never even, and as they are mostly full flat grinds, I'd like them to be.
A lot of my time is spent getting them flat, or taking off that last .1mm that I don't trust myself to do on the grinder.
    Or,…

He was a pillock because of his behaviour .. I hope not because he went to the pub and forgot it was in his pocket. Otherwise there’s nothing down for me as I forget all sorts of things on my person when I call in the pub for a quick one while out…

Thing is one has good reason while on the job and presumably on the way to and from said job. Now if one takes the long way back home, do some shopping, go to the pub, or whatever, the good reason "transport to/from workplace" is getting a bit woolly.…

    Thanks Stew/Peter.
Peter, any particular sizes/grits you would recommend?
Are the coarser ones OK for thinning out the edge of a blade?
Or would I be better off with a diamond plate?
    Thanks

    Someone mentioned these on Instagram.
He was using them for working on hardened blades.
Can't find the darn post to ask about them.
Anyone used them or seen them used?
    Thanks

His IG page looks pretty pukka. I wouldn't be too worried myself, as long as there isn't a language barrier, and wait and build times are up front, and you get a receipt for your funds.
The internet is very easy to spread the word, so most makers want…
