I work in the paper industry. But we had a materials unit that developed some techniques, now used more widely, for creating colour shift material. This is where the anodising came into things...

normg002 Just come to this thread through TallnHairyDave 's carbidiser one and saw the reference to colour anodising. We've looked at colour laser anodising at work - purely as an experiment, no commercial application, we use PVD for that sort of…

I have visions of myself watching my house burn to the ground as I try to do some of this stuff at home (the problem with old houses, far too flammable), so I'm just going to have to live vicariously through this! Can't wait to read more!

    Thanks gents.
I’ve taken stuff to the local jeweller before, let’s just say I’m happy not to go back. I have a “go to” person but they’ve said they can’t fit this in until late Feb!
    Platinum PM on the way!

Posted the thread Found Repair to silver jewellery.
    Thread
Anyone willing and able to make a repair to a silver pendant? It’s a small pine cone on the end of a chain that has been torn off the chain - photos should show the damage.
It’s not valuable in cash terms, but very in emotional terms, so I’d rather…

I’ve just discovered these nato’s from blushark, these are the alpha’s, pricey at $32 each but they’re buy two get one free, 10% off first order and free international postage over $50, so I paid just over £50 all in for three. Very good…

If the flipper tab is detached from the blade like that, is it not coming perilously close to "pushing a button to deploy the blade"? I mean no criticism by this, it's a genuine question!

    Chui   mikeyopolo thanks guys.
Leaving the house today our other cat (the deceased’s daughter) was sitting, purring and kneading at the cushion where her mother usually sits to watch the world go by. I guess we’re all a bit upset.

    Thank you for the…

    Well roll on 2018!
Had a call from some people over the road a few minutes ago to say they found our cat. Dead. Very clearly had a hard hit from a vehicle.
We have (had) two, but the deceased was known as “daddy’s little shadow”. I am now not a…

I second this - picked up a sheepsfoot for Christmas - feels like a full-sized folder, great quality, a beast by UK carry standards.

    Buy one! (expensive though, £300)

Shove it in a different pocket to the keys! Don’t think it’s all that susceptible to scratches...
