I tend to use the same size drill and pin and then put the pin in a hand drill and run it on a 36 grit belt on the grinder until it pushes easily into the hole.

This means you have a grease free and well keyed surface for the adhesive to adhere to.

    I…

I have a set of Facom drivers that have been very good.

One advantage of the Facom ones over others I have used is the diameter of the shank. On the Facom drivers the shank is pretty much the same diameter as the bit and this can be useful if screws…

I have never had a problem with blades welding to the foil but I have heard of this problem before. The solution that maker had was to heat the foil pouches in the kiln (not sure what temp) and allowing them to cool before using…

Do you have an idea on price yet Nick?

I dont need one just yet but will be seriously considering something to do that job in the next year or so - providing our laws don't stop us all making knives in the UK.

For 4mm pins in titanium I ream 3.97mm and get a nice tight fit that only comes out if you really want it too!

When reaming holes I clamp a block on the drill table and drill hole slightly larger than the pin. Then ream without clamping, if you…

    19/64 Good Luck :)

    What is it for blobbyblob?

How accurate does it have to be?

Maybe use smaller diameter and a layer of shrink wrap?

Why does it have to be 7.5, cant you change something else?

I think I have opened a can of worms regarding back spacer materials. ;(

However much I would like to make all sorts of different back spacers I have to say that I can't. With my limited workshop, it is time consuming and difficult to make accurately…

    November update.

I have made a fair bit of progress on these and am hoping to have the first ones finished before Christmas. The scales are pretty much done and the blades are all profiled, hardened and surface ground. So the main blade bevels need…

You could try a few lift companies. They use a lot of wire rope and are sure to have unused off cuts and possibly loads of old stuff if they are doing re-furb work.

The old stuff will be fatigued and possibly have broken wires if that matters. I dont…

The MK 4 has a beefier spring and it takes a lot of wrist action to make it flip. It would take a real ignorant numpty to class it as a flipper.

In light of the recent govornment proposals this is a good thing.

Now if OHO became an issue, that would…

I have to admit I completely missed this.

I have voted for the second option, simply because the first one could cover almost anyone.
