    they are not the sharpest stencils in the world. Still getting the hang of it really. Might need to back off the etching time a tad. Using a 13.8v, 5a DC supply. This one was about 15mm tall.

    quite pleased my workmate was down the workshop today doing some forging, so it was nice and toasty while I was doing some handle shaping and hand sanding.
    Was Baltic in there Friday, had to waste gas and light the force while I was grinding lol.

    Hi everyone,

    Thought I'd share a few pics of my latest build.

    Puukko style knife and sheath, constructed from 01 tool steel, bog oak, copper, leather and stainless steel, sheath is veg tan leather with silver birch insert.

    It's thula burl if I remember rightly. Been kicking around in my wood box for ages. Very waxy, gummed up paper very quick.

    This is my latest carved antler Opinel, a no12 on red stag antler.


    I thought the natural crown on the antler looked very mane like......all i needed to do was all the lions face.

    Phosphor bronze contact plates for smooth action and longevity.

    My Grandson, 2+a wee bit, recognised the etched pig Ben.. no problem, so that's good enough for me! :-)

    And here it is finished, this is goin for free to the supplier of the chain so i certainly didnt spend my usual time finalising it but still....









    Blade is 1.8mm thick. Flat ground no bevel. The front is beveled and to be used as a scraper.

    So after that was rewelded and flattened out again the bar was assembled like this...



    The thick bits being chain and the rest alternating layers of 15n20 and 52100.

    Here is the bar after welding.

    Very dark grey black is bearing casing

    it seems to be a fine mesh with a film overlay. The printer burns through the film leaving a fine mesh you can etch through.
    I picked up a 13.8v bench top DC power supply from TLC yesterday that seems to work well. I should be able to mod it to be…
