This dagger / stilletto / ice pick started as an idea about two years ago after seeing a dagger with a similar handle made by Tom Sterling. He called his a "holdout stilletto". I filed the idea in the back of my brain and dragged it out about two months ago when I decided to do something different.
As it is a pointed stabbing tool, I chose to use mild steel.
The handle cutting and twisting and forging the blade was the quick and easy part. Carving the guard took most of the time, about three days. WIP photos can be seen here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1005913966098016.1073741856.168608566495231&type=3
