Welcome to Handmade & Custom Knives
Opinions vary significantly as to what 'Handmade' and 'Custom' mean, depending on where you live, your own experience and knowledge of knives, what you had for breakfast, and other factors.
We asked our resident wordsmith for a definition and this is what he came up with:
Handmade: a knife or tool that has been made predominantly by hand, and not something that's been spat out in batches by a CNC machine or 3D printer. Of course, the knife can have components that are CNC machined, however the majority of the knife must be made by hand.
Custom: a knife or tool that has been made to your order - you have told the maker exactly what you want in terms of dimensions and materials used. Despite what many knife makers want you to think, choosing from a small set of options does not make it a custom knife - would you say you drive a custom Ford because you chose the paint, the engine size, the seat material and the size of the alloys?
Regardless of how you choose to define them, in here you will find the most beautiful creations the knife world has to offer. Enjoy them!
