  • Having just got off the phone to Amir, I believe the feasibility of a large spit roast is purely down to attendance. The space we have at our disposal could easily accommodate this kind of culinary art. There is a large BBQ (Half oil drum style on legs) that I will bring charcoal for. This should be able to cook for around 20 with due care and attention. I should be able to dig out some paper plates and wooden forks for those of you who are too dignified to use their favourite cutlery... Having …

  • Much obliged HH. Fishing at the minute and that is the most amount of fish scales I have seen all evening. Quite a subtle yet appealing finish. Nice work Hailon!

  • Would love to see the fish scale ano....any danger of a linky Hattori please?

  • Hey Hugh. Due to this being forestry commission land I would much prefer the fire to be contained to the pit or the large drum BBQ. I imagine if a cooking fire was dealt with in responsible manner then it would not be to much of an issue... Hope this helps!

  • Good evening.

  • Nice one Tom! Bus service is a pretty few and far between affair. nationaljourneyplanner.traveli…=JP01_559908126&lineVer=1 Haldon Belvedere being the nearest. If you get that close I would be happy to come and meet you on the Bike if I have already had a couple. It is a nice walk in through the Forest (20 -30) mins on the "discovery trail" that goes right by the cabin Pm. if you need a contact number for the day and any advice. Max

  • As a clarification to a number of questions posed: Start time: Anytime! I imagine most folk to arrive early afternoon but I will be there from mid morning to set up. Finish time: camping kit (if used) stowed by early morning (07:30) but there is no fixed "finish time". This is very much a show and tell event so please feel free to bring along some choice kit to share and discuss the merits of! There is a shower on site that will be available on Sunday morning. The cafe on site will be open on Su…

  • Most certainly Day/Night of the 6th May @hughtrimble Official start time: Whenever you can make it. The shelter is ours to settle in to for the day. For those interested in doing the High wire/ zip lines it will be a 16:30 start. Maybe edit your name to include "Zip"", Camp" and or "Parking Pass" depending on what suits. End time: If camping, we need to have tents packed and stowed by around 07:30 on Sunday morning. However, the shelter will be ours for Sun morning for breakfast/yoga. I am prett…

  • Nice one Darren, an idea of who is pretty much 100% attending is a good idea. As a reminder, the last meet I put on had an attendance of just one (nice one @DevonReviewer) and it was still totally worth it! I have negotiated free parking for those not staying over and have had some parking passes made up should you need one. I have also decided that it will be a voluntary donation to the Calvert trust should you wish to take part in the high wire course... So, I understand if you are unable to c…

  • Not that I am aware Hugh. I like the laser etched finish on the Striders as it does a great job in hiding scratches.

Interesting re the rebranding. I am awaiting a CTS40CP blade which I have read is essentially a powder metallurgy 440C. I have my doubts that it will be any different- but that does not bother me in the slightest. I really like 440C! Ease of sharpening is pretty high on my list of priorities.

  • Welcome Sewinfly. With a name like that I imagine you do quite a lot of flyfishing! I beach cast from shore and estuary here in Devon, but have a friend who is forever goading me into trying fly and course. One day I am sure. You are indeed in the right place to feed your need here at EM. What kind of knives tickle your fancy? There is a such a diverse range and enthusiasts to all tastes here. I prefer OHO (one handed opening) for my needs, but that is as I work and play in fairly rural areas (n…

Welcome on over Sam. I have not had enough experience with Spyderco to have had a chance to be bitten by the bug (thankfully!). It seems that they have a tendency to become quite addictive....Not something that will benefit my financial stability I am sure. Couple that with their prolific release schedule and sprint runs (Does anyone know how many designs they have released?) means that you would have a lot of work to do if you are late to the party! The designs that have caught my eye seem to b…
