Hi All, apologies for my absence. its been a hectic start to the year, business is very quiet in PE at the moment so really working hard to get things going again. Have been in the workshop as well and pushed my first auction out on instagram which was a relative success. Thought I would share with you all the fruits of my labour. Enjoy. Thys

hi guys. Apologies in advance if image quality not good. I have no idea how to resize images taken from an iPhone. Anyway, here is my second lanny. It's similar to my first but has red liners and satin finished at 800 gt. Has a lovely walk and talk, snappy but not too stiff. More pics on my Instagram if you are interested. Special thanks to Willie Paulsen for help with soldering the bolsters.

  • Black and white artsy shot

  • Hi guys. Thanks for all the lovely comments. I'm very blown away and humbled by all the comments. This lanny will be my everyday carry. The scales are olive green micarta (maybe looks a little dark in the pics). The micarta was given to me by Rob for another project I'm working on currently ( a rare style loveless wharncliff for my guild knives submission) but had more than enough for the lanny, so I will have it close at hand all the time☺️

  • To all who commented, many many thanks. It's encouragement like this that spurs one on to produce and share quality knives. It's been an emotional journey make this knife and eventually share it with the world.

Thanks William. Appreciate your comments. I post very regularly on Instagram so you will always get the very latest stuff there.

  • This is an emotional post for me. My late friend and mentor Rob Brown was going to make a New York special type one for me. Bob Loveless only ever made 8 of them and lost the template when moving his workshop. They are extremely rare and expensive knives now. The type two was larger and had a different profile. The type one was the only knife I wanted Rob to make for me. We had researched and poured over pics and different designs and had come up with a final interpretation of what we thought it…

  • thanks guys for all the great comments. appreciate it.

  • I've got 2 to go. Currently busy with a loveless warnecliff (quite a unique loveless design) and my guild dagger which I may redo as I have improved so much since I first attempted it. I will post here as I go.

Thanks Paul. Posting a few shots "up the activity" from the SA guys. Few more to follow.

  • Just a few completed ones going towards the guild entry. Not great pics but you get the idea! Loveless boot in g10 and red lines This knife means a lot to me in that it was the last knife that Rob Brown handled and touched before going to hospital for the final time. I'm so grateful still for all the time we spent together over the years. Bird and trout set in pre ban ivory and red liners. Rob gave me some ivory as a gift when I mentioned I wanted to make a set of these for my guild entries.

  • So classy, well done Willie

  • ok chaps, here are some better resolution pics of the hunters i recently made. sorry for the long wait For whatever reason, there was a lot of dust in the studio that day so some are edited to get the spots out, some not. Both were made from N690, 303 coachwork and guard, but one was black G10 and the other African Blackwood

  • Hi WCC, thanks for your comments. I have completed a loveless boot knife as one of my guild entry submissions. I will try post some pics here soon.

  • Such a fantastic thread. Thanks Paul for setting it up. So inspiring. RIP Rob, you will be missed.

  • Many thanks to all for your encouraging comments. Regards. Thys

  • Thanks Karlo for sharing those beautiful pics. I missing him just looking at them. Thanks also for your kind words. Regards. Thys

  • Well done Dave. Looking foreward to our journey together in knife making. You have shown utter determination to get into the guild. I hope to follow in your footsteps soon.

  • Hi guys not sure if this is the right thread to post my latest drop point hunter. If it's not, please advise. It's a classic drop point, n690, black G10 handle with red liners. My friend Mark West took the pics for me and this is a cell phone pic of his computer screen. Better pics to follow when they are available. Just a thanks to my late mentor Rob Brown who taught me everything I know about knife making. edgematters.uk/attachment/1994…e013cc69025287929e31bc7f3 edgematters.uk/attachment/1994……

  • Rob was one of the most selfless and humble men I have ever met. I was incredibly privileged to have been taken under his wing for a few years before his untimely passing. I can't help but feel it was too soon. There were still so many coffees to be had and laughs to be enjoyed. Our friendship meant the world to me and I loved to just spend time with him. I would plan my day around when I could steal an hour to go and see Rob. I am proud to have known him and am determined to continue in his leg…
